Vernida Polacca Nampeyo is a great-granddaughter of Nampeyo of Hano and a granddaughter of Fannie Nampeyo. Her father, Harold Polacca, was a son of Fannie. She is a sister of noted potters Clinton Polacca, and Reva Ami. Vernida is known for her finely painted traditionally designed Hopi pottery. This wedding base is coil-built from native clay . It is fully polished and traditionally fired. It is the coloration from the firing that makes it distinctive with the blushes. The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Vernida Polacca”
