Duwyenie, Preston – 10″ Tall Water Jar with Corrugated Neck and Fluted Rim
$ 2,800.00
This is a classic corrugated water jar by Preston Duwyenie. I can’t believe that it has been almost 10 years since the last corrugated piece we have had from Preston. This jar has a low, round shoulder and a fluted rim. The neck of the jar has 13 rows of corrugation, which is where the coils are left exposed instead of being smoothed down. The entire surface is slipped with mica and then the jar was fired black. The black micacous surface give the jar a striking appearance and the corrugated bands have been hand smoothed to give them a rich appearance. It is a stunning water jar with both a historic and modern appearance. The mica gives the piece a somewhat metallic appearance. The jar is signed with Preston’s hallmark, which means “carried in beauty”.
