Chitto, Randall – Clay Bear “Fancy Dancer” with Feathers

5"w x 10"h

$ 1,100.00

Randall (Randy) Chitto (Choctaw) studied pottery beginning in 1980 at The Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe under the instruction of Otellie Loloma.  He created his distinctive style of storyteller and figurative pottery.  This is one of his classic dancing bear figures.  The bear is dressed as a “Fancy Dancer” holding feathers in one hand and a lance in the other.  The bear is wearing a headdress.  Randall carved down all the feathers to fit the size of the piece, and carved any wood accessories.  It is a complicated and fun piece.  Randy makes all the additional elements. It is signed on the bottom.  We are pleased to now represent Randy Chitto’s figurative pottery in both Scottsdale and Santa Fe!
