Leonidas Tapia began making pottery in the late 1960s. She was the mother of potters Tom Tapia and Mary Gutierrez. This is a bowl with a handle or a “basket”. It is polished on the handle and the base. The central band is deeply carved with mountain and rain designs. The designs are highlighted with white and tan slips. It is signed, “Leonidas Tapia”. The pitcher is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
