Tyra Naha (or Tyra Naha-Black, or Tyra Naha Tawawina) represents the third generation in a family of well-known Hopi Pueblo potters. She is the great granddaughter of Paqua Naha, a granddaughter of Helen “Featherwoman” Naha and a daughter of Rainy Naha. She is a niece of Syliva Naha and Burell Naha. Each piece is coil built, stone polished and painted with native clay slips. Her pottery is signed with a feather and a 3, representing being third generation of from Helen Naha. The spider represents her being Spider Clan.
