Lorencita Pino was one of the few and best known Tesuque potters. Her Tewa name was, “Ga-de-ge Po-qui” which means “Rising Leaves Lake”. She was on of the few potters at Tesquque making larger vessels into the 1970s. While she made animals and Tesuque Rain Gods, she also was known for jars with faces sculpted into the surface. In later life, her son Joe D. Herrera painted some of her pottery.
