This is an detailed large jar by Frederica Antonio. The jar has a classic olla shape with a high shoulder and sloping neck. It is coil-built from native clay and painted with bee-weed and clay slips. The jar is entitled, “Four Seasons”. She said each of the four sections represents an aspect of Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall. They are separated by lighting designs. Take a look at each of the four sides and do you notice something different in one of them? There is a series of square clouds that are each offset from the next. It is one of her “optical illusion” designs that is striking in person. It is a fluid design that matches the rest of the jar with a striking combination of designs and coloration. This combination of thin walls, classic shape, and tightly painted design creates a piece that is visually stunning! The jar is signed on the bottom, “F. V. Antonio”.
