Frederica Antonio is renowned for her intricately painted pottery. Each piece is coil-built and then finely painted. Her designs are a series of fine vertical and horizontal lines which are then filled in to create larger images in the squares. This jar has four large diamond shaped stars. There are also large star points extending up from the base and down from the rim. They are painted with various clays for coloration. It is a colorful and complex piece! The base of the jar is concave, reminiscent of historic Acoma jars that were carried on the head. The jar is signed on the bottom, “F. V. Antonio”.

Frederica Antonio is renowned for her intricately painted pottery. Each piece is coil-built and then finely painted. Her designs are a series of fine vertical and horizontal lines which are then filled in to create larger images in the squares. This jar has triangular mountain designs around the neck. The body of the jar is different in how she painted the designs. The four sections with the black-and-white colorations. The designs zip back and forth from the top to the bottom. Each of the four sections has this complicated variation on her designs. Separating them are interlocking cloud patterns painted in various clay colors. It is a colorful and complex piece! The base of the jar is concave, reminiscent of historic Acoma jars that were carried on the head. The jar is signed on the bottom, “F. V. Antonio”.
