Candelario, Hubert – Micaceous Melon Bowl with 40 Holes, Ribbon

5.25"w x 3.25"h

$ 4,000.00

Hubert Candelario is one of the few potters working at San Felipe Pueblo.  This is a new variation to his iconic “holey pots”.  The piece is made with micaceous clay and Hubert says that he will slip the piece (i.e. put layers of clay on the surface over and over) 3 to 6 times.  That creates an even tonality to the mica. The piece was built to have eight large, rounded “melon” ribs.  Each rib is then cut with five circular holes that vary in size depending on their location.  The contrast of the round ribs and the round circles is perfect on this piece!  The piece is new from 2024 and has a Blue Ribbon from the 2024 Heard Indian Market.  It is signed,  “Hubert Candelario”.  Spectacualr!
