Lela Gutierrez began making pottery in the 1930s with her husband, Van Gutierrez.  After Van passed away in 1956 she continued to make pottery with her son, Luther Gutierrez. This bowl is a traditional shape.  The bowl has a polished red base.  The design has a rainbow and a series of plant designs.  The colors used on the bowl are  red, white, green, and black on a tan clay background.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.   It is signed “Van / Lela” on the bottom.
