Medina, Elizabeth – 12″ Tall Jar with Three Zia Birds, Rainbows, and Flowers

This is a large and intricately painted Zia jar by Elizabeth Medina. She is known for her traditional style of Zia pottery. Each piece is coil built, painted with native clays, and native fired. This jar has a high shoulder and a short neck. In three sections, there are large Zia birds under red polished rainbows. Each bird is polished tan. Next to the birds are flowers and tan polished clouds. Separating the rainbows are rain designs near the neck. Around the neck is a ring of painted flowers. The base is fully polished red. The jar is signed on the side “Elizabeth Medina, Zia”.
