Pahponee -“Shawl Dancer” Infinity Rim Bowl (1999)

7"w x 5.25"h

$ 700.00

Pahponee (Kickapoo) is known for her contemporary pottery. Her name means “Snow Woman”. She began making pottery in the early 1980s. She is a descendant of the Kickapoo and Potawatomi Nations, originally from the Great Lakes.  This is an unusual bowl with a turned in rim, or “infinity rim”.   There is a “shawl dancer” etched into the jar, along with a man holding a peace pipe and petroglyph-like animals (deer, buffalo, turtle, eagle, and others).  It is made from white clay and then fired to create the dark blushes on the surface.  It is signed, “Pahponee”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
