This is a classic jar by Robert Patricio. The piece is round in shape with an elongated neck and fluted rim. The piece is paitned with rounded clouds on the neck and the body of the jar has a classic lightning design.  There are alternating red and orange clay bands, with fine-line additions and rectangular sections between.  It is a complex design that works perfeclty on this shape of jar.  It is signed on the bottom, “R.  M.  Patricio”.  The jar is a striking extension of his artistry in clay and continues the amazing Acoma legacy.  Robert is one of the few artists who has won “Best of Pottery” at Santa Fe Indian Market two times, most recently in 2022.

““The pottery inspires me to keep going.  Keeping the tradition alive in making pottery, that’s how we were brought up.  Our ancestors started making pottery.  It’s amazing what comes of a piece of clay.
