Tafoya, Jennifer – Bowl with Grey Tree Frogs and Frog Lid (2013)

3.5"w x 3.5"h

$ 2,600.00

This is a creative bowl by Jennifer Tafoya.  The piece is round and fully polished.  On the top half, there are four Grey Tree Frogs, each on a leaf.  What is hard to see is that they way she has etched the leaves, the frogs appear to be on a raised surface!  It is a great optical illusion.  Each frog is highly detailed and note the details in the eyes!  They are surrounded by tiny etched geometric designs.  The bowl has a lid that is carved with leaves and there is a green polished frog on top!  It is also etched.  All the colorations are derived from natural clay slips.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Jennifer Moquino”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  Jennifer continues to be one of the leading innovative potters working today!  She most recently won the “Tony Da Award” for innovative pottery at Santa Fe Indian Market in 2019 and “Best of Show” in 2023 and “Best of Pottery” in 2025!
