Joe Talachy (b. 1943) and Thelma Talachy (b. 1942) are two of the few potters from Pojoaque Pueblo in New Mexico. Thelma is a sister of Minnie Vigil, Lois Gutierrez, and Gloria Garcia. Their daughter, Melissa Talachy, is also a well-known potter. Each piece is coil-built and painted with natural clay slips. This bowl has corn plants on two sides and feather patterns separating them. It is a very complex and tightly painted piece. This colorful bowl has six different colors of clay used for the designs. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Joe & Thelma Talachy”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
