$ 600.00
Frances Pino Torivio was known as one of the revivalist Acoma potters in the 1970s. As one of the Matriarchs of the pueblo, she was influential in teaching other potters at that time. This is a classic water jar from the 1970s. It is coil-built and painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay slip. The jar has a high shoulder. It is painted with two Avanyu (water serpents) and two Mimbres lizards. They are very complex in design. The base is slipped with red clay. The bowl is signed, “Frances T. Pino” on the bottom. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
