Wall, Kathleen – Sitting Koshari Drummer (2 pieces)

Kathleen Wall is a daughter of Fannie Loretto and granddaughter of Cari Loretto. She learned to make pottery from her mother and made her first storyteller when she was eight years old.  In addition, she studied at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe.  She has also been awarded the New Mexico Governor’s Award for the Arts (2021) and has been a MIAC Native Treasures Living Treasure (2020).  This koshari clown is coil-built. It is in a sitting position and holding a mallet in one hand.  His other hand is holding the strap of a drum. The figure has a lot of creative design work on the headdress. There are a total of 2 clay pieces.  All the pieces are painted with clay slips.  There are corn husks in the figure’s headdress.  It is signed, “Kathleen Wall”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
