6"w x 13.5"h

$ 1,600.00

Kathleen Wall is a daughter of Fannie Loretto and granddaughter of Cari Loretto. She learned to make pottery from her mother and made her first storyteller when she was eight years old.  In addition, she studied at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe.  She has also been awarded the New Mexico Governor’s Award for the Arts (2021) and has been a MIAC Native Treasures Living Treasure (2020).  This koshari clown is coil-built. It has a more sculptural appearance to the figure than many of her other kosharis.  The face has more realism and note the detail in the hair.  The drummer is holding a drum in one hand and a mallet in the other.  Check out the TINY earrings that are in the shape of watermelons!  It is part of a clay base that is also painted.  Each piece is painted with clay slips.  There are two pieces.  There are corn husks in the figure’s headdress.  It is signed, “Kathleen Wall”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
