This is a classic jar by Lorriane Williams.  It is a tall jar with sloping sides.  The piece is incised with four bands of clouds.  They are highlighted red and black. The jar was traditionally fired and was covered in pinon pitch, which is typical of all traditional Navajo pottery harkening back to when it was utilitarian.   It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “LW”.  Lorraine has won numerous awards for her pottery and has been featured in books such as “A Legacy of Generations”.
