Sue Tapia (b. 1945) is originally from Laguna Pueblo and was married to noted potter Tom Tapia. They made pottery together, along with Sue making her own individual pieces. This jar is coil-built, carved, stone polished, and traditionally fired. It has 32 carved sections that extend from the rim to the base. They are each fully polished. The jar was traditionally fired a glassy black coloration. The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Sue Tapia”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.

Sue Tapia (b. 1945) is originally from Laguna Pueblo and was married to noted potter Tom Tapia. They made pottery together, along with Sue making her own individual pieces. After Tom passed away in 2105 she moved back to Laguna Pueblo. She continues to make a few pieces every year. Her pottery is all made from native clay, carved, stone polished, and traditionally fired.
