Sue Tapia (b. 1945) is originally from Laguna Pueblo and was married to noted potter Tom Tapia. They made pottery together, along with Sue making her own individual pieces. This bowl is coil-built, carved, stone polished, and traditionally fired. It has 32 straight carved sections. They alternate between groups of four polished and four matte. The bowl was fired red and the contrasting coloration of the deep polished red and the matte red is visually striking. The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Sue Tapia”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.

This bowl is coil-built, carved, stone polished, and traditionally fired. It has 32 carved feathers above the shoulder and 32 below. There are a total of 64 carved feathes. They alternate between polished and micaceous. The central band is polished. The bowl was fired red and the contrasting coloration of the deep polished red and the micaceous red is visually striking. The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Sue Tapia”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
