This is a small open bowl by Helen “Featherwoman” Naha. It has rounded sides and it is fully polished. The edge of the bowl is painted with rainclouds. The center has a hummingbird and clouds. The piece is painted with bee-weed (black) and a red clay slip. The white is a kaolin clay that is first applied to the bowl and then stone polished. The piece was traditionally fired which created blushes on the surface. The piece is signed on the bottom with a feather, which was Helen’s hallmark. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
