Jeanette Sahu is from Walpi, Hopi, on First Mesa. She began making pottery in the 1970s. Each piece is coil built and painted with bee-weed (black) and natural clay slips. This bowl is slipped with white clay and then painted. The rim is corrugated with two bands of triangular corrugation. It is then slipped with red clay and then stone polished. The inside of the bowl is also slipped red. The outside of the bowl has cloud and rain designs painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay to accent the designs. The bowl was traditionally fired. It is signed, “J. Sahu”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
