Claudina Lomakema is a Hopi potter from Sichomovi, which is the center village on First Mesa, Hopi.  She was part of the revival of Hopi pottery (mostly from Second Mesa) in the 1970s.  This bowl is slipped white and painted with bee-weed (black) and a red clay slip.  It has spiraling lightning and rain designs.  There are eight sections of the design.  The bowl is traditionally fired so there are light blushes on the surface.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom, “Claudina Lomakema”.
