Norman Lansing (Ute) is a self-taught potter. He etches finely detailed designs and images of the natural and spiritual energies in his world. He mixes his own glazes to create the effect he wants depending on the story he’s telling. This wide seedpot is entitled, “Fifth Star”. There are five sun designs carved into the clay. The additional designs are etched into the surface. The piece is signed near the base, “N. Lansing”. His buffalo cipher is also etched into the bottom. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
