This is a large seedpot by Corn Moquino. The seedpot is coil-built and it was fully polished, then etched with the design. There are two large Mimbres-style insects on the top. They are etched into the clay and the the backs are two-toned sienna. Each has two coral insets for eyes. The seedpot is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Corn Moquino”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.

This is a canteen is by Corn Moquino. The canteen is coil-built and it was fully polished, then etched with the design. There is a realistic Longhair Katsina on one side. The figure is detailed. The katsina is two-toned sienna. The canteen has leather handles. The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Corn Moquino”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.

Corn Moquino began making pottery in 1963. He was the son of Benina Moquino (Zia) and a Hopi father. He was married to Christine Herrara (Santa Clara) and created sgraffito pottery at Santa Clara Pueblo. His children Bernice, Melvin, Marvin, James, and Michael are all potters.
