Dan Tafoya (1958-2016) was a son of Jose Daniel Tafoya Sr. and Billie Rose Tafoya.  He was a  brother of Matthew Tafoya, Phyllis Tafoya and, Lincoln Tafoya.  This seed bowl was coil-built and fully polished.  It is one of the larger and more complicated pieces we have seen of his pottery.  It was fired brown and then etched with large butterflies and flowers.  It is a striking and complicated piece. It is signed on the bottom, “Dan Tafoya”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
