Eva Histia was the daughter of Helice Vallo and mother of Hilda Antonio, Rose Torivio, and Ida Ortiz. She began making pottery around 1922 and continued through about 1990.  She was known for her use of classic shapes and designs.  This large wedding vase is a classic Acoma style with a high shoulder, short spouts, and twisted handle.  The  piece is painted with large Acoma parrots on each side.  Next to them are intricately painted flowers.  On the sides are fine-line rain patterns.  It is painted with bee-weed and a traditional orange clay slip.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “E. Histia”.  The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
