Sarracino, Minerva – 12″ Tall Jar with Plant and Geometric Designs (1970s)

This a large water jar by Minerva Sarracino (b. 1950)  The jar is coil-built from native clay and painted with bee-weed and red clay slips.  The neck ahs mountain and rain designs.  Below are plant patterns around the center.  Near the base are rain and bird designs.  It is a complex piece in design. The jar was traditionally fired to create the color variations on the surface.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “M. Sarracino, Acoma”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
