$ 925.00

Lawrence Namoki was known for the variety of styles of his pottery. While he began with deeply carved pottery, he ended his career by creating delicately painted vessels.  This piece is entitled “Cycles”.  It is part of a series he made around 2012 about traditional Hopi stories. The jar four designs on the side.  One has a Sun design with hands, corn, and a Hopi sash.  The next this a stalk of Corn in a celestial presentation. The third is Masau Katsina connected to a Flute player.  The final medallion is a galaxy design with circular plants. The jar is painted with black and clay slips and tells the cycles of the earth, the world and the Hopi world.  It is a detailed and fascinating piece of clay art.  The neck is the natural color of the clay and has the appearance of wood.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “Lawrence Namoki”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
