Emma Lewis was a daughter of noted potter Lucy M. Lewis. This is a classic clay owl. The figure is coil-built and painted with bee-weed (black) and clay slips for the red. The eyes are raised and the feathers on the front and back are painted. It is signed, “Emma Lewis”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
