While Nancy Youngblood is known for her swirl melon bowls and carved pottery, she started out her career making miniatures.  This miniature is from 1983.  It is deeply carved with 18 Kiva step shapes.  The top and bottom are also fully polished. The bowl has a square shaped lid. The bowl and lid were both fired a deep, glassy black coloration. It is exceptional how deeply Nancy was able to carve into her pottery relative to the size of the piece!  This piece is in very good condition and it is signed on the bottom, “Nancy Youngblood Cutler”.
