Emma Lewis was a daughter of noted potter Lucy M. Lewis.  This is one of her few canteens.  It is a classic shape with rounded body and elongated neck. The back is painted red and the front has two Acoma birds with rain clouds.  The piece was traditionally fired, so there are some color variations to the surface.  It is signed, “Emma Lewis”.   It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
