Lewis, Lucy – Lizard Clay Figure (1970s)

3.25" long

$ 200.00

Lucy Lewis is one of the great Matriarchs of Pueblo potters of the 1900s.  She was an important revivalist of Acoma pottery throughout her career. This is one of her clay lizards. The piece is painted with bee-weed (a plant) for the black.  The back has a fine-line design and a smiling face!  The piece was traditionally fired so there are some color variations to the surface.    It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom, “Lucy M. Lewis”.
