Denny Gutierrez was known for his faceted melon bowls.  However, he also created exceptional painted vessels. This jar is unusual in design. There are four sections of the design.  One has his classic feathers, another a butterfly, next feathers and lightning and finally a swirling bird.  The jar is highly polished and the designs are tightly painted.  Note how the feathers are painted at a slight angle.  The bowl is polished to a glossy shine and traditionally fired black.  It is from 1986.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Denny Gutierrez”.
