Tso, Jared – “The Moment” Large Melon Jar

9"w x 10"h

$ 3,800.00

Jared Tso is one of the rising stars of Native pottery.  He is a grandson of potter Faye Tso and his pottery is exceptionally refined in technique and traditional in style.  Each piece is coil-built from traditional native Navajo clay and traditionally fired.  This is a spectacular jar which is meant to capture “the moment” a drop of water splashes.  The jar has 12 SHARP ribs that are pushed out from the inside.  Jared carved away at the neck to single out each of the points of the ribs!   The inside of the jar was slipped white while the exterior is fully polished.  It is the firing that adds to the impact of the piece with rich colorations across the entire surface.  Jared said he tried some new variations on the wood for the firing and this was the result.  Simply exceptional!   After the firing, the jar was covered in pinon pitch.  The jar is signed, “Jared Tso”.
