Jared Tso is one of the rising stars of Native pottery. He is a grandson of potter Faye Tso and his pottery is exceptionally refined in technique and traditional in style. Each piece is coil-built from traditional native Navajo clay and traditionally fired. This is an exceptional jar that this coil-built. It has a round body and an elongated neck. The neck has extruding points and this is the first time Jared has extended them to the rim! The result of the dots is not just visual but also tactile. The jar was polished at an angle and then traditionally fired. The firing and coloration is simply amazing and gives the jar its name. The mottled colorations Jared said reminded him of photos of Nebulas. The exciting part of outdoor firings is that while the process can be repeated, the result cannot, so you never know how a piece will look until is fired! The jar was then covered in pinon pitch. The jar is signed, “Jared Tso”.
