11"w x 8.75"h

$ 1,100.00

Sharon Naranjo Garcia (b. 1951) is a granddaughter of Christina Naranjo.  She learned to make pottery from her grandmother and is known for her traditional style of pottery. This is a jar that has a “gourd” design.  The jar has a round shoulder and seven gourd intentions. The intentions are pushed into the clay and are meant to represent the gourds that are used when smoothing out the inside of the clay vessel. The jar is fully polished and then traditionally fired a deep black coloration.  It is signed on the bottom, “Sharon Naranjo-Garcia”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
