This is a kiva bowl by Cesarita Garia (1887-1969). It is the only piece of her pottery we have had in the gallery. The kiva bowl is VERY thin walled and the edge and base are polished red. The piece is lightly incised with plant and cloud designs. They are accented with red and white clay slips. The bowl was traditionally fired. It is definitely an unusual shape for the timeperiod. The bowl is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. On the bottom it is signed, “Cesarita Garica”, mother of Helen Cruz, 1934″
