Tahbo, Dianna – Jar with Hummingbird Tails (1997)

7.75"w x 4"h

$ 1,500.00

Dianna Tahbo was known for her tightly painted pottery and especially her beautiful miniatures.  This piece is from 1997.  Dianna learned to make pottery from her brother, Mark Tahbo.  This jar is one of her elegant shapes with a wide shoulder and tiny neck.  The top is painted with four hummingbird tails. There are the hummingbird wings painted in red and when you look down on the piece they create a flower!  One of the very first shows I had in the Scottsdale gallery was with Mark and Dianna and I always enjoyed talking to them about their designs.  Everything was thought out and intention, which I think is why their pottery remains so relevant today!  The jar was traditionally fired so there are blushes on the surface.  It is signed on the bottom, “Dianna Tahbo”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
