Tso, Jr., Damon – “Dragonflies over the Water” Wide Jar, Ribbon

6.5"w x 3.5"h

$ 600.00

Damon Tso, Jr., is a self-taught potter.  He began making pottery in 2003 and each piece is coil-built and made from clay that he sources from near his home in Buffalo Springs, New Mexico.  This jar has a wide shoulder and a sloping side.  There are four rows of ribs carved into the clay, representing a river.  On top of the ribs are four dragonflies in relief.  The jar was traditionally fired and then covered with pinon-pitch after the firing.  The jar is VERY thin-walled and has a striking coloration from the firing.  It is signed, “Damon Tso, Jr.” on the bottom.  There is a 3rd place ribbon from the 2024 Prescott Indian Art Market.
