Kaa Folwell is one of the exciting young potters working today. This seedpot is coil-built from native clay and the surface is painted in the  background black/blue/white with dark gray designs.  The design is red clay. The seedpot is part of her new, “Earth Balance” series.  Kaa said she wanted to use the red earthen color in contrast to the subtle background to create a visual “story.”  This seedpot, “Bird’s Eye View” is about how the earth looks when we look down from a plane and see all the various lines of roads and fields.  The piece is a striking balance of color, form, and design.  It is signed, “Kaa”.
