Tso, Jared – 18″ Tall “Nightfall” Black Fired Sharp Rib Jar
$ 6,500.00
Jared Tso is one of the rising stars of Native pottery. He is a grandson of potter Faye Tso and his pottery is exceptionally refined in technique and traditional in style. Each piece is coil-built from traditional native Navajo clay and traditionally fired. This large jar has 15 sharp ribs that run from the rim to the vase. They are pushed out in the clay. The jar is polished at an angle and fired black. What is most interesting about the jar is the surface. Jared said he used bark and let the sap burn into the surface of the clay. The result is a textural surface with both matte and polished areas. It is spectacular in person! The jar is signed, “Jared Tso”.
