Juanita Fragua was known for classic Jemez pottery and was the mother of potters BJ Fragua and Glendora Fragua and her son Cliff Fragua, who is a well-known sculptor. This is a water jar with a polished base. The upper section is micaceous with painted lizards and cloud designs. There is a wind pattern painted around the rim of the jar. It is signed on the bottom, “Juanita Fragua”. The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
