Maho, Garrett – Jar with Pottery Shard Designs

6"w x 4"h

$ 975.00

Garrett Maho is known for his traditional and innovative Hopi-Tewa pottery.  This jar has a narrow base and wide shoulder.  It is fully painted with interlocking pottery shard designs.  Each small section is meant to look like a pottery shard found on the ground. The designs range from Katsinas (Qooqole) to birds, rain, seeds, and various geoemtrics. The jar is painted with bee-weed and clay slips and traditionally fired.  The jar has been traditionally fired so that there are blushes on the surface.  The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Garrett Maho”.  Garrett won “Best of Pottery” at the 2018 Heard Indian Market and “Best of Pottery” at Santa Fe Indian Market in 2024.
