Lawrence Namoki has been known for a variety of styles in his pottery. This large jar is coil-built, stone-polished, incised and traditionally fired. It is entitled, “Family Unity”. There are 16 figures incised around the top of the jar. Around the shoulder are painted clouds. There is an etched flute player, a Two-Horn Priest, and single figures with male and female signs. The incised areas are highlighted with brown clay. It was traditionally fired to create the blushes on the surface. The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Lawrence Namoki”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
