Elvis Torres is the great-great-grandson of noted potter Tonita Pena and his great-grandmother was Isabel Pena Martinez. His mother is Philipita Torres. This is one of his larger pieces. The jar has a round body and an elongated neck. It is fully polished. The jar was painted with a feather design on two sections. They are separated by a rain, snow, and lightning pattern. The design is certainly reminiscent of San Ildefonso pottery from 1920s. The jar was traditionally fired. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Elvis “Tsee-Pin” Torres. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
