Tenorio, Robert – 11″ Tall Water Jar with Lightning and Geometric Designs (1995)
$ 1,500.00
Stunning! This is a large classic Kewa-style jar by Robert Tenorio. The jar is painted with wild spinach (black) on a white clay base with a red interior and base. The style of this jar is based on historic Kews pottery and, more specifically, the work by the Aguilar sisters of the early 1900s. The sides of the jar have a very modern appearance with outlined geometric shapes. The neck of the jar is a creative design by Robert. The spirit line starts at the rim, the extends around the neck in a lightning pattern and finally ends at the top of the shoulder! The line is surrounded by black (wild spinach). The jar was traditionally fired. It’s always amazing that such a simple style looks so modern in appearance! This jar is from 1995. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Robert Tenorio, Kewa”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. It was originally purchased directly from the artist.
