This is a small jar by John Gonzales and it is from 2006. John was well known for his plates and intricately etched designs. This jar is matte tan with a black rim. There are feathers etched into the clay along with a micaceous strip with three inset pieces of turquoise. There is an additional band of shell hei-shi beads added along the neck of the piece. For the designs, the background area which has been etched away has a micaceous clay slip. The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. It is signed, “John Gonzales”.
