Stella Chavarria is a daughter of noted potter Teresita Naranjo and a granddaughter of Christina Naranjo. This is a classic piece of her pottery. The bowl is deeply carved with a lighting, rain, cloud, and mesa design. It is fired to a glossy black. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Stella Chavarria”. The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. While Stella makes very little pottery today her work continues to reflect Santa Clara pottery traditions.
